Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette!
If you are throwing a Bridal Shower then as the host you will want to make sure that you follow the correct Etiquette code and rules. Etiquette refers to the ceremonial code of polite society. Obviously things have changed in modern times but, just like weddings, there are still rules of etiquette for Showers.

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette! - Is it acceptable to ask for Specific Items?
It is not acceptable to ask for specific gifts from your guests, this could cause offence. If there are specific items that the bride-to-be requires then you should consider signing up for a Bridal Shower gift registry. The Bridal Shower registry works exactly the same way as the popular wedding gift registry. The bride-to be selects one or two stores and registers her list of items with them. Guests are then sent the details for the gift registry with their invitations and can browse the list and choose specific items. The bride-to-be should ensure there is a wide range of gifts to suit all budgets. Some guests might like to pool their money and buy a larger gift from the list, it is important to give them plenty of choice, include some lower price items so guests don't feel they have to spend a certain amount of money.

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette - When to open Gifts!
It is customary to open gifts in front of all the Bridal shower guests as everyone likes the chance to see what has been given to the bride-to-be. Some guests may feel left out if their gifts are not opened at the Bridal shower. If the gifts are opened then the host should ensure that someone is nominated to make a note of the gifts given so thank you notes will include the correct information.

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette - How much to spend on Gifts!
There is no set amount that guests are expected to spend on Bridal shower gifts and it is important that every guest receives a thank you for their gift. Homemade Bridal shower gifts are a wonderful idea and add that personal touch. An embroidered quilt or a recipe book is a wonderful gift and keepsake for the bride-to-be and it is essential to remember that a gift does not have to be expensive to be valuable, it is the thought that counts!

Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette - Virtual Gifts!
If the bride-to-be is travelling to attend a Bridal shower, perhaps held by friends in her home city, why not ask guests to send pictures of their gifts to the host and have the real gift mailed directly to the bride-to-be at home? The host can then make a scrapbook with guests names and pictures of their gifts. This scrapbook can then be opened and read at the long distance Bridal shower! The last thing you want is for your bride-to-be flying back home with suitcases full of gifts and a huge excess baggage bill! This idea will still add the thrill of seeing what Bridal gifts have been given at the shower. When the bride-to-be returns home she will have the extra excitement every time the post is delivered!
